Start up valuation
The problem faced by the client is the difficulty of defining with which companies it is interesting to create a co-creation project with which to achieve a new business model, i.e. diversification. To do this, it is necessary to analyse the sectors that are attractive to the companies of the Mondragon Corporation, since depending on the market in which the start-ups operate, the criteria for evaluating them vary. Therefore, the aim of the client's request during this challenge is to analyse data on start-ups in order to assess them and decide whether they are interesting to invest in. In short, it is necessary to try to determine the most qualitative aspects of a business opportunity in order to build a more stable assessment criteria. For this, among other things, aspects such as the sector, the business model and the degree of scalability must be taken into account.
The main objetives are the following:
- Scraping: Scraping the website of the selected start-up. Selenium and Beautiful Soup have been used for this purpose.
- Image and text preprocess: Image recognition of the startup's category (sector), through its website (Business Data Analytics degree coordination department).
- Ensemble models: Valuation of startups, predicting the value of the startup's acquisition (Mondragon Corporation Promotion Centre).
